Members of the Escambia Bay Homebrew Club have
the following obligations and expectations.
OBLIGATIONS
1)
Members are obligated to be familiar with the club's website,
escambiabayhomebrewers.org, and especially with the club's bylaws listed
there. According to the club's bylaws,
“The club's mission is to further educate ourselves in the art of making fine
adult beverages and to share the art of making these beverages with others that
are interested in learning. We also
strive to engender an appreciation of fine micro brewed and imported beers,
wines and adult beverages among those of us who make them.”
2)
Members are obligated to protect the integrity/reputation of the club
when attending club sanctioned outings/events, events the club is officially
participating in or when a member is acting on the club's behalf. We expect members to know what socially
acceptable behavior is and what is appropriate, or not appropriate, at a given
function.
3)
Each member is obligated to sell $100 worth of beer festival tickets each
year. The money coming from these ticket
sales to the Emerald Coast Beer Festival (ECBF) will pay for the benefits we
enjoy. Some of the benefits are:
pizzas/food at meetings, top notch food at the Brew-BQ’s, free entry to
chili/gumbo cook-offs, free shipping for homebrew competitions, Christmas parties,
use of club owned brew-systems, etc.
This way each member can use the ECBF as a vehicle to pay for their
portion of the club’s budget obligations.
4)
Members are obligated to respond, either positively or negatively, when
an RSVP to an event has been requested.
If they respond positively then find themselves unable to attend they
should send an email to the member organizing the event cancelling the
RSVP. If unable to send an email they
should cancel by phone. Any member that
RSVP’s positively but does not cancel should reimburse the club the cost it
incurs for their not attending the event.
EXPECTATIONS
1)
Members are expected to bring Home-brew-beer to all events. If a member does not have Home-Brew-beer to
bring they should purchase beer in pitcher/6-pack quantities to share at the
events. Homebrew is preferred but
Micro-Brew-craft-beers are welcome as well.
2)
Members are expected to be assets within the club. Ask yourself, how your membership benefits
the club? Are you an asset? Do you help out when help is asked for? Are you doing anything to promote the mission
of the club?
3)
Probationary members new to brewing,
are expected to attend gatherings designed to help them learn more about the
brewing process. These are brew
demonstrations, brew education programs, and to brew at least 3 batches of
different styles of beer in a year.
